Recently, the mint flavor has also been added to the sprite to add a punch of freshness to an already refreshing drink. Sprite is a product of the coca-cola company. And who doesn’t like a coca-cola with their meals? Hence, it is not wrong to expect great drinks from an already established beverage company that sells the best soft-drink already.

Is sprite caffeinated?

No, the sprite does not have any caffeine in it. Indeed, it is caffeine-free. Many sodas of the coca-cola company do not have any caffeine in it. Although, due to an increase in the caffeinated soda trend, there is some speculation that in the future, we may see some upgraded versions of the sprite. They might or might not have caffeine in them.

What is in Sprite?

The main ingredients in this sparkling soda are as follows;

  • Water
  • Fructose corn syrup (high)
  • Citric acid
  • Sodium citrate
  • Sodium benzoate
  • Natural lemon extracts
  • Lime flavors

Except for corn syrup, lemon, and lime flavors and water. All the other elements are mainly preservatives to let your drink be fresh for longer. Moreover, they are the reason for the citrusy taste and bubbles in the drink.

Sugar in sprite

You are no doubt familiar with a sugar rush, aren’t you? Sprite has heavy amounts of sugar in it. And I mean it, the amount of sugar in sprite surpasses most other beverages. Hence, heavy drinking of sprite may develop some type of sugar rush in you as the heavy amounts of caffeine do. Indeed, both make you hyperactive and jittery.

The amount of sugar in sprite can be taken into account through this measurement; A 375 ml can of sprite has about 38 gms of carbohydrates and 140 calories. And these are the gifts of the sugar in the sprite. The 375 ml can is equivalent to 12-ounces.

Hence, most people feel a boost of energy taking over them immediately after drinking the sprite. However, this is short-lived, and the person soon crashes. Moreover, it will include the unease and anxiety. And the same symptoms are seen in people who have to much caffeine. They become nervous, anxious, and face jitters.

Therefore, this is one of the reasons many people think sprite has caffeine in it.

Warning About Sprite!

  • As I have already stated how sugar hits upon your system and makes you anxious. Here are some more impacts of it. And these effects are from short-term to long-term. In cases, they may prove fatal as well.
  • Increase in sugar results in obesity. Similarly, it may disrupt the insulin level in the body and cause diabetes. Moreover, heart diseases are another cause of high sugar content.
  • It is advisable to only have 6 to 9 teaspoons of sugar a day for adults. It is approximately 25 to 36 grams of sugar. If the amount surpasses this set standard, it will cause serious damage to your health.
  • Now here is a piece of interesting information. A small 375 ml pack of sprite has about 12 to 15 teaspoons of sugar in it. That is approximately 38 grams. Certainly, this is a huge amount of sugar in only one can. Hence, a can of sprite exceeds the normal sugar threshold of a day. So you need to limit the use of sprite to save your health.
  • Above all, people with diabetes and obesity need to avoid sprite like the plague. As it will cause more harm to them and rapidly than other people.
